The geographical location and the privileged environment of Cuevalia allows to carry out many activities and to visit the main interest places of the province of Granada.
From Cuevalia you can do many hiking routes in the surroundings, suitable for all kinds of people and physical conditions. These routes could also bring us closer to the nearest towns and allow us to enjoy the peculiar and picturesque landscape of the area.
It is worth mentioning the climb to the Montual hill, on which our town is located, and the different routes to the main viewpoints in the area, where you can contemplate views that will not leave you indifferent. For example, The End of the World Viewpoint is one of the most visited and spectacular in the area.
The Sierra Nevada National Park, declared in 1999, is a privileged spot in Andalusia. It is also home to a rich cultural and historical heritage in which Tartessian, Roman and Visigothic legacies overlap, especially on the Alpujarras side.
Within the natural park you can go on numerous hiking or high mountain routes. A few kilometers from our accommodation is the Dehesa del Camarate, also known as the Enchanted Forest, which is one of the most precious natural treasures of Sierra Nevada. It is the most impressive forest in the entire province of Granada, and in a large part of Andalusia.
The Thermal Spa of Graena is located a few meters from our accommodation, within the same village. It is an Arabic thermal spa, qualified with some of the best thermal waters in the world. At present this spa is surrounded and adapted with all kinds of comforts.

Although it is not one of the best known areas of origin in the country, the wine quality of the area has nothing to envy them. The situation and the climate of our municipality make it an ideal area for wine production.

Cueva de las Ventanas, located in the town of Piñar, is a karst system located in the last foothills of the Sierra de Arana, at an altitude of more than 1.000 meters. The temperature inside the cave remains constant at 13 degrees Celsius throughout the year (the lowest of any cave in Europe). Its route is adapted for baby carriages and people with reduced mobility.
Cueva de las Ventanas is formed by several levels of galleries, with stalactites, stalagmites, casts and limestone formations in the rocks, all of them product of the passage of water during millions of years. The first occupation of the cave is dated to over 30.000 years before our era.
Calahorra Castle was built on an old Arabian fortress. The official date of the beginning of its construction is 1509, although there are historical documents that indicate that Cardinal Pedro Gonzalez de Mendoza started the works in the summer of 1491. From 1492 to 1508, the works of the castle continued to be carried out, in which Valencian artists and craftsmen had a lot of relevance.
Calahorra Castle is an authentic jewel of the historical and artistic Andalusian heritage. This monument has been declared an Official Asset of Cultural Interest since July 6, 1922.
Granada Geopark, located in the north of the province where our municipality is located, is one of the few natural deserts in Europe, where you can walk, cycle or ride a horse among suggestive badlands, geological landscapes sculpted by erosion in the form of rocky outcrops, gorges, river canyons, sharp canyons, clay ridges and a thousand other capricious forms.
The geopark has 72 recognized places of geological interest, some of them of international relevance, and has an extension of 4.722 km2.
The Francisco Abellán reservoir is located between our municipality and the neighbouring town La Peza. In addition to the peculiar views and the beautiful sunsets you can practice water activities such as canoeing.
The surroundings of the swamp have a pier and a bar-restaurant where, in addition to enjoying the best views of the place, we can receive information about the activities that can be performed there.
The historical city of Guadix represents the capital of the region and the most extensive urban nucleus of the region.
Among its main tourist attractions it is worth mentioning its cathedral (declared of cultural interest), the Alcazaba and the ruins of the Roman theater, recently found.
